WHAT IS CUPPING ?
Cupping is the placement of glass cups along the body. These sups are placed in such a way that they create suction of the skin and muscle into the cup. This is not painful, it just feels like a tightness or pressure on the area.
WHAT DOES CUPPING DO ?
As the suction of cupping causes your skin to rise into the cup it also stimulates the local blood vessels to expand. This stimulates blood flow in the area which promotes healing, pain reduction, inflammation reduction and healing.
Often when cups leave deep purple bruises, this is a good indication that was a problem area. The deep purple indicates old stagnant blood has been removed from the area to allow fresh oxygenated blood to nourish the muscle.
WHEN WOULD I RECEIVE CUPPING IN A TREATMENT ?
Cupping is most commonly used for two types of conditions:
⦁ Muscular tension and pain
⦁ Cold and flu
You will receive cupping for 10 minutes at the end of your treatment if your practitioner believes you would benefit from this therapy or you specifically request it. Our practitioners most commonly use cups for muscle tension.
